My Old Guitars

My lovely and very generous wife purchased this original 1959 Les Paul Standard for me in the mid 1990s. It was purchased as a replacement for an original 1958 Les Paul Standard we sold following the arrival of our second child , and the need for a larger house for our family . This is a remarkable guitar every aspect, tone, playability and beauty! This particular guitar has smaller frets (Gibson changed to the jumbo fret during ‘59, but this guitar was manufactured prior to the conversion) which gives it a woodier tone. I am not saying small frets are better, it is just a different sound (soon we will put up a video of this ‘59 compared to my buddies ‘60 which has the large frets). Although an original ’50s Les Paul Standard can be hard to find and expensive, they’re worth the effort and every penny. I can’t…
